“It is my understanding that many of you oppose the unification and founding of this village. Many of you feel that these stone walls that bring us together seek to rob you of your identity, others fear that their protection undermines their strength. Please, brothers and sisters, allow me an attempt to ease your worries and doubts. These walls are nothing more than arms which seek to embrace us, to bring us closer together. Without them we are but solitary sticks, strong but prone to breaking under the stress that solitude brings, but together we become more solid; A stronger and sturdier collective from many different trees. These protective arms provide us with sanctuary, a safe place for our children to grow and learn, a place we can all call home.”

For ages, the people of this world were seperate. Hundreds if not thousands of independant clans, each with its share of secrets, whether it be blood or technique, dotted the globe. All of them sought for one thing: dominance over the others. Because of this the world was in engulfed in what can only be described as perpetual war; a dark age that kept the distinction of the most powerful in constant flux. However, as these wars dragged on over the years, the leaders of these clans would grow tired of the constant bloodshed that had surrounded them since their birth. Through the voices of these leaders, the idea of permanent settlements was brought forth in an effort to unite the warring clans. With the stronger clans leading the charge, hidden shinobi villages began appearing in the more affluent countries and soon, Hi no kuni, Mizu no kuni, Kaminari no kuni, Tsuchi no kuni and Kaze no kuni became the five pillars of the shinobi world. As time passed, the smaller clans of the world would either flock to these walled societies in search of a better life, stubbornly hold out in fear of losing their individuality, or would disappear completely.
